CONCORD—Yesterday, the New Hampshire House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee voted 12-8 to recommend SB 12-FN-A, establishing the New Hampshire college graduate retention incentive partnership program and making an appropriation therefor. This employer based benefit provides $1,000 for each of four years to New Hampshire college graduates filling GRIP qualified positions. The 22 college members of the NH college and university council will market the program and direct New Hampshire college students to the NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) website. The BEA website will market those businesses offering GRIP incentives and provide links to the employers and their qualifying positions.

Prime sponsor Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) released the following statement about the vote:

“The House committee vote in favor of SB 12 is an important signal that New Hampshire is committed to recruiting and retaining the workforce of tomorrow; I hope the full House will concur with today’s recommendation and send this important bill to the governor’s desk. The College Graduate Retention Incentive Partnership (GRIP) is an on-switch to encourage New Hampshire college students to include in-state job opportunities in their career planning and transitions. This unique public-private partnership brings together business, education, and government to fill the current lack of incentives to attract and retain 2- and 4-year college graduates New Hampshire employers need.”
