CONCORD, NH—Today, New Hampshire Senate Democrats released their “Granite Promise Proposal” outlining priority distribution of the $1.25 billion grant received from the State-Local Coronavirus Relief Fund. The plan works in tandem with additional federal coronavirus relief funding allocated in the CARES Act.

Senate President Donna Soucy, Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes, and Senate Finance Chair Lou D’Allesandro released the following statements about the proposal:

“Thanks to the leadership of our congressional delegation, New Hampshire has received critical funding to help Granite Staters combat COVID-19 and recover from the coronavirus pandemic. New Hampshire Senate Democrats are committed to a process to distribute federal CARES Act funds that is fair, transparent, and uses existing infrastructure to more rapidly disburse the funds to impacted Granite Staters,” said Senate President Donna Soucy (D-Manchester). “Our Granite Promise Proposal is based on public input and focused on real relief for individuals, families, small businesses, and nonprofits here in New Hampshire.”

Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) added, “Senate Democrats are doing what we have always done and what we will continue to do long after this crisis. We are working for the people, including prioritizing those who couldn't get access to the PPP, protecting property tax payers and homeowners worried about losing their homes, and advancing healthcare and good jobs for workers crushed by job loss.”

“New Hampshire is struggling. In every sector people are doing the best they can given unimaginable circumstances, but the need for financial assistance has been made loud and clear,” said Senate Finance Chair Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester). “Senate Democrats’ Granite Promise Proposal addresses the needs of many, while also stabilizing the state budget by replacing state funds already spent on the crisis. Further, as we cannot be fully aware of the efficacy of any recovery or relief funds spent immediately, unless reviewed later this year, we propose a set aside to enable New Hampshire to continue meeting the ongoing needs of our state.”
