CONCORD - Today, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to concur with the Senate recommendation of Ought to Pass as Amended on HB 1280 in a vote of 225-104. HB 1280 as amended is a comprehensive omnibus bill which increases prescription drug affordability and improves access to affordable health care for Granite Staters. HB 1280 will next be enrolled with the Secretary of State’s office and then go to the governor’s desk at which time he will have five days to act.

After the vote, Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) issued the following statement:

“No one should have to choose between their health and their financial security,” stated Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord). “Unfortunately, that is the reality for too many Granite Staters, as New Hampshire grapples with the highest health care costs in the nation under Governor Chris Sununu due to prescription drug costs, behavioral health care costs and the lack of treatment opportunities, and the absence of paid family and medical leave insurance. The measures taken in HB 1280 help deal with prescription drug costs, including an importation program of safe, low-cost prescription drugs from Canada, transparency and consumer protection, and the most progressive price cap on insulin in the nation. This package of reforms is critical to the health and economic wellbeing of Granite Staters; at a minimum, I hope Governor Sununu will allow this to become law without his signature.”
