Coastal Resilience and Economic Development Program Passes NH Senate

March 7, 2019

CONCORD—Today, the New Hampshire Senate passed SB 285, to establish a coastal resilience and economic development program. The legislation is the product of the Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission, whose final report was released in 2016.

Prime sponsor Senator Watters (D-Dover) released the following statement after the vote:

“It’s widely accepted that changing weather patterns will impact New Hampshire’s coastal communities and the Legislature should do all we can to help those towns and cities prepare and plan. Today’s bipartisan vote is the next step to give municipalities, regional planning commissions, historic preservationists, and NHDOT a toolbox to address storm surge, sea-level rise, and extreme precipitation.”
