CONCORD— Today, Joint Fiscal Committee Chair Mary Jane Wallner and Vice Chair Lou D’Allesandro responded to Governor Sununu’s continued mischaracterization of the Joint Fiscal Committee process to accept and expend federal funds relative to the coronavirus pandemic.

After the governor misstated the role and processes of the Joint Fiscal Committee meeting for the second time today at his April 8th press conference, Representative Mary Jane Wallner (D-Concord) and Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:

“The Governor’s continued misrepresentations of the role and the process for the Joint Fiscal Committee are unacceptable. To be clear, the committee meets at the call of the chair, and is ready to meet daily if needed. Further, the insinuation that the Fiscal Committee does not want to be part of the process, is both wrong and unfounded. The Joint Fiscal committee is designed to accept and expend federal funds, even in times of emergency. This transparent process took place under Governor Benson in 2003, under Governor Lynch in 2009, and the people of New Hampshire should expect and demand no less as we work to combat COVID-19. Now, more than ever, it is critical that the Governor put politics aside and work together in the best interests of all Granite Staters.”
