CONCORD - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) and Deputy Senate Democratic Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) discussed what they hoped to see in the budget ahead of Governor Sununu’s budget address.

Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) and Deputy Senate Democratic Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:

“The state budget is the most significant reflection of state leaders’ priorities for the people of New Hampshire. Today, Governor Sununu has the opportunity to set us on a path for relief and recovery from the most important and immediate issue facing our state, which is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester). “This plan should include a robust investment to shore up the relief and recovery efforts of our cities and towns, as well as ensuring access to mental health services and treatment for those in need of support.”

“It is critical that any budget proposal issued by the Governor maintains the historic investment made in public education by the last budget to ensure every child in New Hampshire has access to a comprehensive and adequate education, regardless of their zip code,” stated Deputy Senate Democratic Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua). “It is also imperative that his proposal provides much-needed property tax relief to taxpayers. The last thing New Hampshire families need is to be stuck paying the bill for downshifted costs from the state.”
