Senate Finance Committee Unanimously Adopts Medicaid Dental Benefit

CONCORD – Today, the Senate Finance Committee unanimously approved an amendment presented by Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) and Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) to require the Department of Health and Human Services to contract with dental managed care organizations to provide dental care to individuals in the Medicaid managed care program, and funds the program in the second year of the biennium.
After the vote, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:
“Today’s vote to provide a Medicaid dental benefit has been years in the making. There are over 120,000 adult Granite Staters who rely on Medicaid for their health care, who will benefit from the provision of this dental health care. This measure will benefit public health, workforce development efforts, financial security for these individuals, and represents a long-term cost savings for the state. I am grateful to my colleagues on Senate Finance for their support on this critical measure.”
