CONCORD – Today, Senator Tom Sherman (D-Rye) introduced SB 70-FN, relative to insurance coverage for emergency behavioral health services for children and young adults to the Senate Commerce Committee.
After the hearing, Senator Tom Sherman (D-Rye) issued the following statement:
“When a child is brave enough to ask for help, we owe it to them to respond swiftly and sufficiently to meet their needs and ensure their safety. SB 70 removes financial and procedural barriers for children and families facing a mental health crisis, allowing for longer term treatment to begin immediately, if necessary. This bill is a critical steps towards getting our children in mental health crisis off of waiting lists, out of emergency rooms, and into the treatment programs they need.”
