Senator Martha Hennessey
Senator Martha Hennessey is serving her second term representing Senate District 5. For the 2019-2020 legislative session, she chairs the Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Transportation Committee.
Senator Hennessey was raised in Hanover and returned with her family in 2001, moving into the house she lived in as a child. Before returning to Hanover, she and her husband lived in the Boston area, where Senator Hennessey was a school psychologist, psychotherapist, and a college professor. In New Hampshire, Martha is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who consulted to schools and worked with children, adolescents, and parents in her private practice. As a developmental psychologist, Martha understands the changing needs of growing children and the critical roles of families and schools.
In 2014, Martha was elected to the NH House of Representatives, representing Hanover and Lyme, and two years later she won a seat in the NH State Senate, representing District 5.
