CONCORD - Today, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) introduced SB 486-FN, the Reproductive Health Parity Act of 2020, to the Senate Commerce Committee. The bill expands on insurance plan requirements to cover maternity benefits and fertility care by adding coverage for abortion services. The requirement will apply to state-regulated commercial insurance plans and those on the marketplace.

After the hearing, prime sponsor Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:

“Everyone deserves reproductive health care coverage that meets their needs, including abortion, without barriers. New Hampshire law already requires private insurance companies to cover contraception, fertility treatment, and maternity care--the Reproductive Health Parity Act is an important next step to ensure women have the right to make the decisions that are best for themselves and their families without the fear of crushing financial burden.”
