CONCORD - Today, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) introduced legislation requiring testing for lead in water in schools and childcare facilities and a health-based maximum standard. In addition to testing, SB 599 requires parental notification and the development of remediation plans.
After the hearing, prime sponsor Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:
“Ensuring the safety of drinking water for New Hampshire children is of the utmost importance. There is no safe level of lead in a child’s blood. Right now, New Hampshire is following nearly 600 children whose lead levels are concerningly high. SB 599 will help us implement long term solutions to ensure the safety of drinking water for New Hampshire’s children.”
