CONCORD, NH - Today, Senate President Donna Soucy responded to news that Senator Martha Hennessey (D-Hanover) will not seek reelection:

“Senate District 5 and the entire state of New Hampshire are better off because of Martha Hennessey’s hard work over the last six years.

Martha’s passion for her community and for the people of this state was always evident, whether in her role as Judiciary Committee Chair, her advocacy for efforts to address period poverty and provide access to infertility treatment, her persistent fight to protect reproductive rights, and her current work to ensure the Upper Valley has the resources necessary to combat COVID-19.

While her friendship, spirit, and determination will be missed in the state senate, we know she will find new ways to continue her involvement. We wish her and her family all the best in this next chapter.”
