CONCORD – Today, the Senate passed legislation to address municipal, school district, and village district budgets during the state of emergency.

After the vote, Senator Jon Morgan (D-Brentwood) issued the following statement:

“Across the state, our municipalities have worked to navigate the operational difficulties created by COVID-19. These challenges were particularly felt around our March and May town meetings. This bill provides the crucial guidance that our municipalities and school districts need to begin to move forward.

Our municipalities need help. In towns like Chester, budgets have been put on hold, putting programs in danger and preventing towns from beginning recovery efforts. This bill addresses the immediate needs of our municipalities by giving towns the flexibility to host meetings in alternate ways that protect the health and safety of all involved.

I am proud of the bipartisan work done today to ensure our municipalities are given the assistance they need.”
