CONCORD - Today, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to concur with the Senate recommendation of Ought to Pass as Amended on HB 1582, an omnibus bill relative to veterans protections, in a vote of 290-36. The bill, championed by Senator Jon Morgan (D-Brentwood), previously passed the Senate in a vote of 23-1. HB 1582 will next be enrolled with the Secretary of State’s office and then go to the governor’s, at which time he will have five days to act.

After the vote, Senator Jon Morgan (D-Brentwood) issued the following statement:

“This session, I have been proud to bring forward legislation in support of New Hampshire’s veterans. We are the proud home to over 100,000 active duty, reserves, and other veterans living and working in New Hampshire. In this legislation we assist our veterans to start businesses, find jobs and apprenticeships matching their skillset, obtain physical and mental health services, prevent suicide, achieve license and certification reciprocation, access educational opportunities for themselves and their families, and we continue the fight to end veteran homelessness.

Our veterans have dedicated their lives to the service of their state and their country. I thank my House colleagues for their vote today and encourage the governor to sign HB 1582 into law, giving back to those who have given us everything.”
