CONCORD - Today, HB 1246, a portion of the Senate Democrats’ Granite Promise Plan addressing the COVID-19 crisis in New Hampshire’s nursing homes and long-term care facilities, advancing worker recruitment and retention in nursing homes and long-term care, providing funding for the child care scholarship program, and ensuring a future COVID-19 vaccine could be administered was delivered to the governor’s desk where he will have five business days to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without his signature.

Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) issued the following statement in response:

“With over 300 Granite State seniors being lost to COVID-19, we have among a worst-in-the nation crisis in our nursing homes and long-term care facilities. The workers and the residents deserve support now, including on testing and on PPE. HB 1246 will keep our nursing homes afloat safely and do an independent review of what went wrong and how to plan for a possible second wave. HB 1246 also allows the flexibility in law to more widely administer a future COVID-19 vaccine and ensures low-income families have access to child care. HB 1246 is an essential public health bill and I urge the governor to sign it into law.”
