CONCORD – Today, in a party line vote of 3-2, Republican members of the Senate Education Committee voted Ought to Pass on HB 71, a bill that prohibits the superior court from allowing special school meetings for a collective bargaining agreement that was voted down at the regular meeting.

After the vote, Senate Education Committee member Senator Sue Prentiss (D-West Lebanon) issued the following statement:

“HB 71 is an unnecessary overreach. New Hampshire already has laws in place to determine the specific reasons a school district could request a special meeting and court oversight of all such requests. This bill goes too far and I am disappointed to see it passed through committee today.”
