CONCORD – Today, the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee voted Ought to Pass on SB 403. SB 403, prime sponsored by Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) re-establishes the WIC Farmers’ Market Program. The WIC program provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutritional education to postpartum women and infants and children up to 5 years of age who are found to be at nutritional risk.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement:
“SB 403 is a win for families and farmers as it supports sourcing fresh produce for WIC recipients and increases the demand for New Hampshire-grown produce at farmers' markets. I am extremely grateful to my House colleagues for their efficiency and support on SB 403 and look forward to continuing to advocate for
healthy options for our vulnerable women, infants, and children.”
