Republicans Continue Their Attack on Reproductive Health Care

CONCORD – Today, the Republican members of the Executive Council once again voted to reject family planning contracts for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Equality Health Center, and Lovering Health Center. Councilor Cinde Warmington (D-Concord) was the sole vote to approve the contracts.
After the vote, Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:
“Today’s vote by the Republican members of the Executive Council will directly restrict access to reproductive health care for the 12,000 Granite Staters who rely on the safe and affordable services provided by family planning centers including birth control, STD testing and treatment, and cancer screenings. Governor Sununu had the power to fight for these contracts and back up his quickly evaporating claim that he is pro-choice. Instead, he has allowed Republican extremism to continue to chip away at reproductive rights.”
