CONCORD – Yesterday, SB 131, an act adopting omnibus legislation relative to vehicles, municipal water maintenance certificates, nondriver's picture identification, and firefighter and emergency medical services decals, was signed into law. Part I of SB 131, relative to electric vehicle supply equipment and infrastructure and relative to state motor vehicle fleet management, is a crucial step in improving New Hampshire’s electric vehicle infrastructure.

Prime sponsor Senator David Watters (D-Dover) issued the following statement in response:

“As a state and as a nation we must take bold steps to address the climate crisis and reduce our regional greenhouse gas emissions. Just last week, President Biden signed an executive order that calls for electric vehicles to make up 50% of all new car sales by 2030. With the passage of SB 131, New Hampshire has an opportunity to become a national leader in this movement by expanding our electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), grid infrastructure, and EVSE installation along interstate highways. I am pleased to see this important legislation signed into law and look forward to the continued fight to protect our environment.”
