CONCORD - Today, Senate Finance Committee Republicans voted against an amendment to the budget that would have added critically needed funding for child care for at-risk children and families.

After the vote, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:

“Today, Senate Finance Republicans voted against modestly increasing funding for child care services for at-risk children whose families are in need of assistance. This money would have been specifically targeted to help the most vulnerable families in the state: families who are struggling and receiving preventive support services to avoid becoming involved with DCYF, and families who are engaged with DCYF whose children require protective services, including safe and reliable child care. Now more than ever, struggling families and children who are at risk for abuse and neglect need reliable support services and we should be doing everything we can to keep these children safe. I am deeply disappointed in today’s vote by my Republican colleagues.”
