CONCORD - Today, the Senate passed Senator Cindy Rosenwald’s (D-Nashua) Restaurant Relief Act of 2021 in a vote of 22-2. The bill was then tabled so that the measure may be discussed as a part of the budget process. The Restaurant Relief Act of 2021 temporarily changes the operator compensation under the meals and rooms tax from 3% to 5%.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:
“For the past year, our restaurant and lodging industries have been fighting for survival as revenues have plummeted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Restaurant Relief Act of 2021 puts money right back into the pockets of our hardest hit industries, thereby saving thousands of jobs across the state, without long-term financial consequences. I thank my colleagues for their support and look forward to our continued discussions during the budget process.”
