CONCORD – Today, Senate Minority Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) and Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) sent a letter to Governor Sununu urging immediate action in addressing the COVID-19 outbreak at the New Hampshire Veterans Home. The outbreak was first detected on November 10, 2020. In the past three weeks COVID-19 cases among residents and staff have skyrocketed- 15 veterans have died, while 53 residents and 64 staff members have tested positive for the virus.

Senate Minority Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement in response:

“This pandemic has been disproportionally devastating to the residents and staff of long term care facilities across the state. The exceptional staff at the New Hampshire Veterans Home has continued to provide tireless, dedicated care to our veterans and comfort to the families who have lost their loved ones to this virus. It is the state’s responsibility to care for the residents of the Veterans Home who are among our must vulnerable citizens. We are calling on the governor to immediately act to implement a plan that prevents the further spread of this virus; that addresses the staffing shortages arising from so many infected personnel; and ensures that every possible protective measure and equipment is available to staff and veterans including regular testing.”
