CONCORD – Today, the Senate Finance Committee approved an amendment from Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) and Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) to add $3 million in general funds for shelter programs.

After the vote, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement:

“Before the COVID-19 pandemic, New Hampshire saw a 21% increase in people experiencing homelessness, including over 300 school aged children in Nashua. The funds presented to the Senate Finance Committee to expand access to homeless services had previously been passed twice by the Senate through SB 140 with unanimous or near unanimous votes. While I am happy to see the partial expansion of these programs, I am disappointed that my Republican colleagues support did not extend to increased funding for youth street outreach, rapid re-housing, and eviction prevention."
