CONCORD – Today, in a party line vote of 14-10, Senate Republicans voted ITL on SB 67, Senator Becky Whitley’s (D-Hopkinton) bill to establish paid sick leave in New Hampshire.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement:
“When you’re sick, you shouldn’t be forced to go to work. It’s bad for you, your co-workers, and your employer. Especially now, as we continue to face both health and economic crises, we should be supporting commonsense workforce initiatives that increase worker productivity, decrease employee turnover, and reduce the spread of sickness in the workplace. For these Granite State workers without paid sick time, the decision to take time off from work to recover from an illness or to care for a sick child or family member is a choice between their health and their financial security. I am extremely disappointed that my Republican colleagues chose not to support this pro-workforce legislation that would help build a strong economic future for our state.”
