CONCORD – Today, Senate Republicans voted Inexpedient to Legislate on SB 387, Senator Jay Kahn’s (D-Keene) bill to make an appropriation to the body-worn and dashboard camera fund and establish a distribution process.

After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:

“Ensuring the ability of every town and county to equip their law enforcement officers with a body or dashboard camera was a safety standard recommended by the Governor’s Commission on Law Enforcement Accountability, Community and Transparency (LEACT). Access to these cameras is essential to establish a common level of protection for our law enforcement officers as well as ensure transparency and accountability within our criminal justice system. I am extremely disappointed that my Republican colleagues made law enforcement and public safety a partisan issue by refusing to support the recommendation of Governor’s Commission, which the Governor claims he supports.”
