CONCORD – Today, the Senate unanimously passed Senator Rebecca Perkins Kwoka’s bill, SB 217, which, as amended, seeks to expand the minimum required notice landlords must give their tenants for evictions from 30 to 60 days in instances when the landlord is seeking to repair, renovate, or sell the rental property.

Prime sponsor Senator Rebecca Perkins Kwoka (D-Portsmouth) issued the following statement after the hearing:

“New Hampshire’s tight housing market and low vacancy rates, which are between .5% and 1%, have made it almost impossible for someone to find housing in only 30 days. The additional notice provided in SB 217 can make all the difference for a family facing eviction. I’m proud of the collaborative work that went into crafting this legislation that strikes the balance between the needs of landlords while also recognizing the challenge of finding housing in New Hampshire today. I thank my colleagues for their bipartisan support and look forward to bringing this bill before the House.”
