CONCORD - Today, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement regarding the COVID-19 outbreak at the New Hampshire Veterans Home that has resulted in the death of 15 veterans. In July, Governor Sununu vetoed HB 1246, which included an independent review and needs assessment for the New Hampshire Veterans Home to be completed by October 1, 2020.
“Earlier this year, Governor Sununu vetoed House Bill 1246, which would have ensured that state facilities like the New Hampshire Veterans Home were better prepared for the second wave of COVID-19. The second wave is here, and because of Sununu’s veto and mismanagement of this crisis, vulnerable Granite Staters are dying. It is inexcusable that Governor Sununu has put the safety of our veterans in jeopardy.”
