CONCORD - Today, the Senate voted Ought to Pass on SB 448-FN, Senator David Watters’ (D-Dover) bill to require a reduction in fossil fuel emissions by state owned facilities, establish the state government energy committee within the department of energy to advise the state energy manager on how to improve the energy efficiency of state property, and encourage the use of electric vehicles by state agencies. The bill motion was adopted on a voice vote and the bill will next go to the House for a public committee hearing.

After the vote, prime sponsor Senator David Watters (D-Dover) issued the following statement:

“The nation is taking significant steps towards a more energy-efficient future. SB 448 provides necessary updates to the language of our state energy plan and sets New Hampshire on the right path toward reducing emissions, creates an electric vehicle infrastructure, and clarifies the language around the purchase and leasing for fleet purchases. We need to be making these kinds of improvements now if New Hampshire hopes to be competitive in our nation’s energy future. I am grateful to my Senate colleagues for their support and look forward to bringing this bill before the House."
