State to Buy Hampstead Hospital Amid Children’s Mental Health Crisis

CONCORD – Today, Governor Sununu announced that the state was in the final stages of negotiations to purchase Hampstead Hospital.
Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement in response:
“Thanks to the hard work of our federal delegation, New Hampshire has the opportunity to take this critical step to address the ongoing children’s mental health crisis. In 2019, Democrats laid the foundation by providing the funding and the framework for the children’s mental health system of care through the state budget and SB 14. Despite the fact that the Governor has yet to fully stand up the system of care, this purchase is hopefully a sign that he is beginning to recognize the severity of the issue.”
